Introduction

We continuously strive to make the content and functions of our website accessible. The basis for this is the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) and the EU Directive 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act).

Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is currently partially compatible with the requirements of BITV 2.0 and the BFSG. The incompatibilities and exceptions are listed below.

Preparation of this declaration

This declaration was created on the basis of a self-assessment using automated testing tools (including the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool).

Analysis and challenges to date

Our analyses have shown that there are extensive technical and economic challenges due to the high age, the tools used, the grown structures and the large amount of content (over 100 active subpages). The entire website system was designed and implemented without taking accessibility into account.
The work that had already begun on full accessibility adaptation had to be discontinued due to the disproportionate effort involved and the increasingly complex structures. Instead, a different approach is now being developed, which includes, for example, reducing the size of the website, partial redesign, concentration on core functions, tool changes and other simplifications.

Current and planned measures

• Further training for employees and service providers on barrier-free design
• Gradual revision of existing content with a focus on accessibility
• Continuous testing with tools such as WAVE and user feedback
• Checking external tools (e.g. booking systems, cookie banners) for accessibility

Schedule

The complete revision and relaunch of the website is planned by December 2025.

Currently known barriers

The following content and functions are currently not fully accessible:

• Limited keyboard navigation (especially in sub-menus)
• Insufficient color contrasts in texts (especially on image backgrounds)
• Missing semantic ARIA roles in interactive areas
• Limited use with screen readers on subpages
• Individual PDFs and integrated third-party widgets are not yet accessible
